7 Feb 2007, Wed - Car crashes into void deck at Simei Street 1
Got such coincidence meh? When I saw the title on the Channel News Asia internet page I was thinking, "Could it be my block? Not so coincidence gua...."
Then, I click into the website and saw....
"SINGAPORE: A car crashed into the void deck of Block 108 at Simei Street 1 on Wednesday. Traffic police received a call at noon informing them of the accident. The car was travelling along Simei Street 1 towards Simei Road when it mounted the kerb and collided into the building wall. The driver and three passengers – a teenage girl, a 5-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl – appeared unhurt. But the children were conveyed to the KK Women's and Children's Hospital. The driver is assisting the police in their investigations. - CNA/so"

What the?!
Why had the car mounted the curb? I guess was that it was travelling too fast or wasn't concentrating on the road. There's a right angle turn in front of my block so if you were travelling to fast or wasn't paying attention on the road, mounting the curb is not difficult.
Luckily, the car had slammed into a pillar / wall and not through walls / between the pillars...
Why? Because there's a nursery on the ground floor...
Fortunately, it happened in the afternoon. If it had happened around 7.50am in the morning, it might turn out to be front line news... because that's the time when nurses walk to the Changi General Hospital, employees leaving their flats for work, last but not leave, moms, dads and maids bringing kids to the nursery and kindergarten at the next block...
The driver should consider himself very fortunate because there were no casualties, all the kids in his car are not hurt and at most he will be fined for wreckless driving and damages to public property....

Wow... did not even know it happened. I've seen car flipped, crashed and went for a swim before. This is considered mild. The first thing i will do is copy down its license plate number. Probably will go to the driver's seat and laugh at him/her/it.
