"AT first sight, it appeared like a toy plane which had bent and cracked and almost split into two from the middle. But this was shocking reality.
The incident happened when a Boeing 737-300 passenger jet belonging to Indonesian budget carrier Adam Air made a hard landing which cracked its body, reported the Antara News Service.
It was said that all the 148 passengers were safe.
The accident prompted the temporary closure of Juanda Airport in Surabaya, Indonesia.
According to Ms Susanti Dewi, an official at Adam Air: ' The plane made a hard landing but did not crash.' She declined to give further details. (那当然,难不成要她说应为是廉价行空所以做例行检查时难免会偷工减料/拉长捕短/增一只眼闭一只眼?)
It was reported that Adam Air attributed the incident to strong winds amid heavy rain at the airport. (“当然不是我们公司或员工的错。错就错在大自然吗,是本公司无法控制的。”)
SCARED PASSENGERS (谁不会怕?)
The company also said that the plane had undergone thorough checks before taking off. (当然是这样讲啦。。)
According to latest reports, the accident prompted some passengers to cancel flights with the carrier. (是谁都会取消机票啦。。)
This seems like a second blow for the beleaguered budget carrier, following last month's tragedy when another Adam Air Boeing 737-300 plane vanished from the radar screen with 102 people on board. It was on its way from Surabaya to Manado in North Sulawesi island.
The accident sparked widespread discussion of Indonesian aviation safety standards generally. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono set up a commission to investigate transport safety. "
Would you think twice about taking budget airlines now?
