22 Feb 2007, Thursday - Traffic stopping fire....
It has been a long day for me and Esmond. We woke up early to go to the airport to fetch ML back to Kuku's place, before rushing down to work. (Thanks to our understanding bosses...)
After work, we met up with Kelvin, Winnie, David, Adrian, Edith, Phillip, Trista and baby Sabrina for dinner.
Come 8pm, we crowded around at the walkway of Mains Road, beside Westpac Bank.
All of a sudden, thousands of lorikeets emerged from the trees and flew past us! There were a couple "fortunate few" that was given "wealth" by the birds! haha... (I'm not so lucky leh... haha)
So what made the birds take off in flight / fright?
This......
The owner of Sunnybank Plaza gives back to the community that contributed to his wealth with 20 minutes worth of serious fireworks. Apparently he does this every year....
Earlier in the year, the Brisbane Town Council had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on the new year's fireworks spectacular. Quite a number of people had argued that these money could have been put to better use (e.g. helping the needy ones....). However, there are also others that argue that the joy of watching fireworks with love ones and having the chance to celebrate the new year is priceless.
Could the money have been put to better use?
